What happens when Holi Festival is Over?
Rishikesh, India
You often see a lot of photos and videos of the craziness of Holi, people covered in colourful powder, dancing, celebrating in the streets, but you don’t really see too much of what happens afterwards & this was for sure my favourite part of the whole day.
As the sun sets on the Ganges River people gather by the water, some step in and wash away the colours of the day, while others make offerings or just sit and enjoy the atmosphere (like myself). The energy shifts from chaos and celebration, to something quite peaceful? Street vendors pack up their stalls, purple smoke lingers in the air, to my left a group of people are singing with a guitar, to my right others gathered in prayer. And of course, you can hear a faint noise of others carrying on the celebrations into the night.
